Government of the Pale of Llangollen

Field Marshal Waldersee of Ravenburg-Morovia has brought to the attention of the Grand Council the matter of government of the Pale of Llangollen, the area in what was formerly North Wales occupied by Karko-Ravenburger Duetarian Forces on 4 - 5 May 2008. Currently, the Pale is being administered by the Duetarian Occupational Army (DOA), commanded by Ravenburger-Morovian General Eva Conradi. There are also DOA forces deployed in semi-occupied territory in Conwy; Gwynedd; and Powys under the command of Karkelbanian Major General Yvo Golightly.

"It is becoming clear that Duetaria can no longer militarily occupy the Pale illegally," said Morovian Lt. Colonel Gottfried Prüter (Military Commissioner in Llandudno) this morning, "and furthermore it is my express view that we must formally annex the territory as soon as possible."

Internecine warfare between the factions in control of Wales has been waged since the 2003 British Civil War, and the Defensive Alliance of Llangollen has now relocated to Llandudno, with Stanley Owen Earl of Llandudno as its Minister-President. So far, peace efforts have been frustrated by fighting around Colwyn Bay (Conwy) between defensive alliance soldiers and a Duetarian brigade commanded by Colonel Sir James Bhachu Fowler-Lloyd.

Field Marshal Waldersee, in concert with Karkelbanian authorities, now moves that the DofE territories should be assimiliated into Yamian control as the province of Greater Denbigh-Ruthin, with a Yamo-Ravenburger-Berringtonian occupying Safety Force (SF).

Amidst much wild adulation, Premier Eulenburg vaults from his state limousine and enters the Llangollen headquarters of General Conradi and Major General Golightly. After a charged ten minute private debate, Eulenburg reappears triumphantly.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," crows the great politician, "It is my pleasure to announce that Darmsburg-Gotha now believes the secret invasion of DofE on Sunday to have been a step by Karkelbania and Ravenburg-Morovia in the direction of undemocratic authoritarianism! Its leaders must be indicted for planning the invasion behind closed doors!"

"We would like to point out that discussing the invasion openly would prepare our enemies. There were however numerous discussions by the Chiefs of Staff on the plan."

In a Press Conference today at 14:50, acting Lady President Bening reassured Duetarian journalists of her support for the 'behind closed doors invasion', as Darmsburger foreign secretary Clemens von Quitzow calls it.

"Luschia and my Government hereby affirm that, far from an illegal secret, the Duetarian Karko-Ravenburger operations carried out this weekend were in the politically public zone for a considerable time. Our Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Lee, was active in planning, as was the Catoagoan commander-in-chief Raful and the Berringtonian Chief of Staff Sprinkle-Winkle. Moreover, King Wake did mention his/our plan to the Grand Council in the original post 'The great expedition', written to respresentatives on Monday 28 April."
