Nuclear Warfare
An atom bomb works by starting a nuclear chain reaction, which causes the release of a huge amount of energy; relative to conventional explosives- per unit volume, an atom bomb is millions of times more powerful than TNT. The first atomic explosion occurred on 1st September 1992, at a test sight in Catoagoa, the test was called Enthalpy. It was developed during the top secret Sphinx Project, which was directed by General J Tomahawk, of the Catagoian army. The nuclear reaction is actually caused when neutrons are fired at closely packed atoms which have heavy nuclei-plutonium or uranium isotopes-the heavy nuclei then break apart when hit by the neutrons, making lighter nuclei and more neutrons, which then in turn causes a nuclear chain reaction. This process is called nuclear fission. When the nuclei are broken down terrific amounts of energy are given off- some atom bombs give of 80 terajoules of energy per kilogram! The earliest bombs were those that were dropped on Bigtopia; they had a chain reaction caused by firing two semi-spheres of high purity uranium isotopes at one another inside a small chamber- a much easier process than the one above. A hydrogen bomb is different to an atom bomb because it gains its energy through nuclear fusion (the collision of atoms to form larger particles)- the atoms used are the lightest, normally deuterium and tritium-hydrogen isotopes- to form helium atoms. The altitude at which an atom bomb explodes affects its damage. If it explodes near the ground, the blast would cause terrific local damage, but less long-range damage; but if the bomb explodes above the ground the explosion causes less local damage but more long-range damage. This makes the bomb very versatile and catastrophic.
We should utilse ithis bomb to crush our enemys and steal there homelands !

Re: Nuclear Warfare
We all know this already Grad Nomad Lloyd, but thank you for informing the slower minded of this community. What do you want to discuss about nuclear technology? Is it just weaponry you are interested or do you wish to discuss other uses for it like energy topower our homes and nuclear powered cars?

If we discuss how nuclear technology can be used to benifit our people, both in their defence and in their every day lives, we could create a nuclear policy, slow moving away from fossil fuels and TNT, but becoming dependant on one reliable power supply, nuclear reactions

Re: Nuclear Warfare
Because submarines are very big, nuclear reactors are very big, so unless we have 100 foot long motorbikes, so invest in making nuclear reactors smaller, your dreams of public nuclear travel seem a while off.

Re: Nuclear Warfare
We could develop a miniature version of a nuclear reactor - a sub needs a lot more power than a motorbike, so the reactor could be a lot smaller. We need research into this area.

Re: Nuclear Warfare
I suggest a nuclear weapons... I mean reactor, funding policy. Whereby it does what it says on the tin.
The research may taken millions of golden bricks and over a decade to make, but think of the revinue we would get, it would also combat global warming.

Re: Nuclear Warfare
It is not just about cash, there is a moral side to it as well, for a start if the general public disagree, there could be open revolt!
